The Perry Initiative

Inspires young women to be leaders in Orthopaedic Surgery and Engineering by partnering with medical centers, universities, and high schools nationwide. Calling All Minority Males!

The College of Charleston Otto B. German Minority Male Initiative is a unique opportunity for minority males to visit the College of Charleston for an overnight experience. Join them February 16-17, 2019 for a free experience that will empower, support and assist you as a man of color.

Throughout the course of the weekend, you will:

» Tour their beautiful campus.
» Visit college classes.
» Interact with current faculty, staff and students.
» Attend leadership workshops.
» Dine in downtown Charleston.
» Stay in CofC residence halls with current students.

MMI participants will learn how minority male students are supported at the College and make connections with admissions staff who can support them in the college search process.

Students who participate in initiatives such as this tend to achieve higher grades, be more academically and socially integrated into campus, and graduate at higher rates.

Young Global Scholars

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is a summer academic enrichment and leadership program for outstanding high school students from around the world. Each summer, students from over 100 countries participate in one of nine interdisciplinary sessions and immerse themselves in a global learning community.
Scholarships are available.

6th Annual Dream Girls Conference

Saturday, March 30, 9am-4pm

The mission of the Dream Girls Conference is to empower middle and high school girls by equipping them with strategies and resources to help them make wise decisions; thus, enhancing their mental, social, spiritual, physical and emotional well-being. The Dream Girls Conference is hosted annually by Youth Empowerment Services, Inc. (Y.E.S.).

IT-oLogy supports women in IT through their WISE program and also as the South Carolina affiliate for NCWIT Aspirations in Computing awards ( Aspirations is a program of NCWIT and I would encourage you to check out their website as there is a lot of research and information available.
