Student SOA PTSA Board Member(s) Join the Board and gain valuable leadership experience serving as Student Board Member on the Charleston County School of the Arts PTSA Board of Directors. Student Board Seats (2 available annually) are open to high school students. Candidates must be in good standing academically and artistically and eligible to participate in all school activities. These students represent the voice and perspective of the SOA student body, actively participating in monthly board meetings—most held via Zoom in the early evening—and contributing to discussions, voting, and PTSA initiatives. Support core PTSA efforts by encouraging annual membership sign‑ups and promoting sales of school spirit items and merchandise, the organization’s primary fundraisers. They also attend and assist at major PTSA events, including the annual Fact & Fees day and Welcome to SOA Night, helping greet families, engage new students, and strengthen the connection between the PTSA and the broader school community. Volunteer Coordinator (SOA PTSA) The Volunteer Coordinator supports the Charleston County School of the Arts PTSA by organizing, recruiting, and managing volunteers for PTSA programs, events, and ongoing needs throughout the school year. This role blends strong organizational skills with a welcoming, community‑focused approach, helping ensure families feel informed, included, and empowered to participate. The Volunteer Coordinator attends monthly PTSA board meetings—most held via Zoom in the early evening—and collaborates with board members and committee chairs to identify volunteer needs, maintain clear communication, and manage sign‑ups using tools such as SignUpGenius. Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in PTSA events, including Fact & Fees and Welcome to SOA Night, supporting the PTSA table, greeting families, and helping connect new and returning parents with opportunities to get involved. We welcome your Mini-Grant Application as an SOA Certified Instructional Staff member (teachers, School Counselors, Teacher Librarians, Instructional Coaches, and Student Interventionists.) Recipients must be current members of the PTSA, and it's only $5 for a faculty member to join! Grants are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until PTSA budgeted funds are depleted for the year. Requests should be for items that directly benefit students and/or classrooms.
If two faculty members would like to combine their requests for a larger project to be applied to multiple classrooms, that will be considered. Arts teachers with booster clubs: the PTSA requires that your booster club fund half up to the current mini-grant limit. PTSA will fund the other half once verified.
After you submit your form, please allow time for us to receive and process the approval.
Approved and Funded Grant Requirements:
- After purchasing with grant funds: Email receipts to ptsa.soa@gmail.com.
- Document and email photos of students using the materials.
- We ask that you share with students and families that the program was made possible with support from the SOA PTSA.
- For teachers of Arts Major areas: Your Booster Club must contribute to this request by matching the requested total funding for this project.
